I actually feel the exact opposite about this. When I was in high school, a massive number of girls all got in this trend where they cut their hair short. Literally couldn't tell some of the girls from the freshmen guys. It was weird.

I have loathed short hair on women ever since.

First girlfriend had short red hair (or, often, dyed purple, blue, and whatever she felt like throwing in) and I agree 100%. It can make up for almost any major flaw in appearance otherwise.
